Winter Sonata, a South Korean drama series aired in year 2002, is a second part of the season-themed drama directed by Yoon Seok-ho. Bae, Yong-joon and Choi, Ji-woo was starred as the leading characters of this drama. Due to the fans of this K-drama all over the world, Nami Island became one of the must-to-go places by the tourist since the majority of the scenes of this drama were taken.
In line with that, your local unnie came up with the details on “How to get to Nami Island in the easiest/most convenient way.” based from my trip to Nami Island and Petite France last September 2016.
How to get there?
Take an ITX train from Yongsan Station then get off at Gapyeong Station. Travelling from Yongsan Station to Gapyeong Station will take approximately 55 minutes. You may purchase your ticket at the station or through Korail app.
There are two types of ticket:
- Seat: Upon making a reservation, you will be either assigned or asked to choose a seat.
- Standing: This is a bit cheaper yet you can only get the ticket at the station.
* Take note of that the prime time weekend tickets may ran out so better make reservation as early as possible to have your seats safely guaranteed.
After getting off, purchase “Gapyeong Tourism Attraction Circulation Bus” from the bus stop across the Gapyeong station from the bus driver. I suggest this if you plan to visit different tourist spots in Gapyeong aside from Nami Island. However, if you are planning only for Nami Island, take the ordinary bus. You can use this ticket in transferring from one tourist spot to another such as Nami Island, Garden of Morning Calm, Petite France, etc.Departure location: Boarding site at each course
Tourism course: Gapyeong Terminal -> Jaraseom Island (Ewhawon Garden, Camping site) -> Gapyeong Station -> Namiseom Island (Zip wire) -> Geumdae-ri Hoegwan -> Petite France (Cheongpyeong Ferry Cruise Ship, Ryu Mi Jae Galleryhouse) -> Cheongpyeong Terminal -> In front of Imchogyo Bridge -> Garden of Morning Calm (Chi-ong art center)
Travel approximately 15 minutes from the Gapyeong Station to Nami Island stop then settle your Naminara Republic VISA Fee at the counter. There is a discount for the foreigners so bring your valid ID.
Details of fees are as follows :
Regular KRW 10,000
Discount for foreigners KRW 8,000
Special KRW 4,000
Visitors aged between 3 and 13
Visitors after 18:00 (Dec. ~ Mar.)
Visitors after 19:00 (Apr. ~ Nov.)
However, if you do wish to make your entrance to Nami Island extraordinary, I suggest you to go for zipline. Zipline operation may cease without prior notice due to bad weather.
To ride the ferry, you have to fall in line. This is very obvious, right?
As you can see in the picture, there a lot of people visiting Nami Island.
Visitors are not limited to the foreigners since this place is one of the date courses for the couples and places to visit together with friends and family.
Finally, I have arrived in Nami Island.
Details of the rental fees are as follows :
||KRW 4,000(for 30 min.) / KRW 7,000(for 1 hr.)|
||KRW 8,000(for 30 min.) / KRW 14,000(for 1 hr.)|
||KRW 15,000(for 30 min.)|
||KRW 10,000(for 30 min.) / KRW 18,000(for 1 hr.)|
||KRW 2,000(12 years old ⇩) / KRW 3,000(13 years ⇧)|
When you are done with the what to do’s in Nami, make sure to make your tummy “a happy tummy”.
Your local unnie suggests to eat the local specialty food from Chuncheon, Dak-galbi (spicy grilled chicken) and Mak-guksu (cold buckwheat noodles).
Seems the noodle isn’t spicy? Don’t worry cause its spicy sauce is just under the cold noodles.
Your local unnie suggests to eat at “Seomhyanggi”, a restaurant located within Nami Island.
With delicious local food, my trip to Nami Island has been ended.
