Okinawa Day 2: Manzamo, Orion Happy Park, Kouri Bridge, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, Vessel Hotel Campana Okinawa, American Village, Hama Sushi

By Local Unnie

“Sooyoung, if you go to Okinawa, please visit Churaumi Aquarium and enjoy on behalf of me.” said the upperman in the office.

The last time I have visited an aquarium was when I was in elementary through piano academy. It was my first time to touch a sea turtle’s shell. Reminiscing my childhood, I added Churaumi Aquarium in my itinerary.IMG_4181Manzamo refers to a wide field with the sea. It is like a park made by someone who has a wide lawn spread out on a section of sheer limestone. It is named Manzamo due to its wide lawn which is wide enough for 10,000 people to sit. Take a moment by sitting on a soft grass while looking at the sea, the scenery is so beautiful. It is like you are looking through a picture. It is also famous for its elephant-shaped fault and rocks.

“Groups of tourists are coming. We should move fast so we can take pictures or let’s wait for them to go ahead of us.”

This was me when I saw buses entering the parking lot of Manzamo. Why do I take a lot of photos of me, the places I’ve been to, food I’ve eaten, and special experiences?

“Taking a photo is tiresome. Taking notes on where I have been to is another big deal. I want to make all my memories to be documented so that I will have something to reminisce when I get old. By looking at the pictures and reading through my past days, I am sure that I will laugh and miss those days.”IMG_4274The night before leaving to the North of Okinawa we had a short talk on the itinerary.

“Beer factory? I did not included in the itinerary because we have a colleague who will drive the car. I have included it in our itinerary if I am the one to drive the car.”

TADA. There was a changes in the schedule. We went to the Orion Happy Park. The colleague who’s been driving did not join us. Instead, he chose to stay in the car to rest. Beer lover? Then check how your beer is made.

Orion Happy Park is open 9:00 AM to 18:00 PM (closed on holidays). The tour is free and consist of a 35-mins walk around the brewery with a guide who will explain about facilities. 2-glass of freshly brewed beer are served for free. To book a tour, check their site.IMG_4341I love something that has been proven delicous. I am sometimes a food adventurer sometimes not. I am not a risk taker. Have you ever heard about umibudo (sea grapes/green cavier) seeweed? It is like a mini string of green pearls, pops in the mouth like a cavier. Not my top choice but if you are in Okinawa try this local specailties at least for once.

This is a small restaurant operated by a female diver in the Kouri Island. Take the Kouri bridge, the longgest bridge on a open road in Japan connecting the Kouri Island and Yagaji Island.IMG_4467This was so random but when I see the beach I want to soak my feet. The feeling when the cold seawater touches the skin is really unforgettable.

We walked all the way to one of the famous sushi restaurants but we were too late. 😮 They did not accept customers any more so we went to Hama Sushi. Hama Sushi is also famous with its sushi on a moving conveyor belt. Despite we were having a late dinner, there were a lot of people. We have been waited for about an hour. As we get sitted, we ate like a food fighter. It was really a good fight. We were surprised by its taste and its reasonable price. If I ate the same amount in Korea, I am sure that it will cost thrice.
