Perhaps, once in a life time you had the memories of playing with LEGO bricks. If you are visiting Korea before February 4, 2017, recall the childhood memories. Let me introduce who the artist is.
Nathan Sawaya – the Artist
An acclaimed New York based artist who creates artwork from a toy. His artwork focuses on lifelike sculptures using only LEGO bricks. He was the first artist to ever take LEGO into the art world. During his childhood in Oregon, he drew cartoons, wrote stories, perfected magic tricks and of course also played in LEGO.
When it came for college, he moved to New York City, attended NYU and became a lawyer. After years of million dollar mergers and corporate acquisitions, he realized that he preferred creating art, rather than sitting in a boardroom. Leaving his law career behind, he made the bold move toward LEGO art. Now he is an author, speaker, and one of the most popular, award winning contemporary artists of our time.
Moving from the comfort zone is not an easy thing. It required a lots of courage and Sawaya was able to do so. He moved out from his comfort zone and followed his dream. If you have the passion, how young or old doesn’t matter. Just follow your dream.
Dreams are built… One brick at the time!

Moving on to the artworks, I appreciated how Sawaya put all the small pieces of LEGO bricks into an art work.
The Art of Brick had four floors filled with the art works, play zone, and shopping center. These are my favorites from the exhibit. Like the most of the exhibits, there were photo zones too.Last stop of this exhibit was to recall the childhood days! Whoever you are, where you from don’t matter!Look for Ara Art Center in the Google map to visit The Art of the Brick! 🙂
The exhibit is running from Oct. 5, 2017 to Feb. 4, 2018.
Operating Hours: 11:00AM – 8:00PM (last entrance is at 7:00PM) weekdays and weekends (closed every Monday of month end)
